Decorated with Heart & Harvest

Each cake is lovingly finished with natural, elegant touches that reflect the seasons and your preferences. We decorate using a mix of piped designs, freshly picked organic flowers from our garden (guided by your colour choices). You can select for the cake to be topped with our maple + cinnamon roasted pecans, which add a beautiful buttery-crunch to the cake. No artificial frills here—just beautiful, honest decoration to match the care that goes into every bake.

FAQs

How much notice do you need to take a booking?

We recommend placing your order 2–4 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. As we have a limited number of cake orders we can accommodate each week, the sooner you reach out, the better your chances of securing availability.

How can I order?

As each cake is made to order, we use a request system instead of instant checkout. Here’s how it works:

1. Request a quote – Select your preferences

2. Submit your request – We’ll review your order and confirm availability. We might have to adjust the collection day if we have reached our limit for that day. Thankfully, these cakes only get better with time, and are at their absolute best from day 2 to 3 after baking.

3. Approval & payment – Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation with payment details.

4. Collect your cake – Pick up your freshly baked cake on your confirmed date.

This ensures we can give your cake the time and care it deserves ✨

How does payment work?

Custom Cake Orders:

We require all cake orders to be paid for in full upfront. After we receive and approve your quote, you will receive an invoice. All sales are final. We understand life happens, and so will accept a change of date, no less than 4 days from your collection date as per your order. The date must be within the net 6 months.

Date Changes:

If the customer provides at least 4 days notice, the cake booking will be moved to the new requested date (subject to our approval of availability).

Cancellations and Late Notice:

If the booking is cancelled or the customer fails to provide 4 days' notice for a date change, the full deposit will be forfeited, as ingredients will have been purchased and to cover admin fees.

A new deposit will be required for a new booking, as products may have already been purchased or prepared for your order.

We aim to be as fair as possible in these circumstances and appreciate your understanding.

How does collection work?

Confirmation Email:

The week of your cake collection, you will receive a confirmation email with collection details.

Veteran Collection - available Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

Forest Glen Collection - available on Fridays

Collection Times:

We do our best to accommodate preferred collection times and provide a 15-minute window for you to arrive.

Late Arrivals

As we are a small business with a young family, it’s important to notify us via text if you are running late or if there are any changes. If timing cannot be coordinated, you may miss out on collecting your cake entirely.

How do I transport my cake?

To ensure the safe transport of your cake, please follow these guidelines:

Packaging and Placement:

Your cake will be provided in an enclosed box on a cake board. Place the cake on the passenger floor of your car for the safest transport.

Summer: Keep the air-conditioner on.
Winter: Avoid using the heater.

If the passenger floor is unavailable, place the cake in the boot on a non-slip surface, but NOT on a car seat, as the dip can cause the cake to tip over during sudden movements.

Driving Tips:

Brake gently and take corners slowly to avoid unnecessary movement.

For additional safety, have a passenger hold the cake on their lap during the journey.

Refrigeration:

If you require transporting your cake before consumption, ensure that it is well-refrigerated, to help it maintain its structure.

Damage Policy:

While we may be able to assist with fixing any transport or handling damage after the cake leaves us, this is subject to our availability. Please take extra care during transport!

Are you a Gluten-Free, Egg-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free or Vegan kitchen?

At Sunny Mill, we believe in whole foods, and use the best quality ingredients that we can. That means organic where possible, free range eggs, and organic (& often homegrown) vegetables for our cakes. Therefore, unfortunately we cannot cater for nut-free, gluten-free, egg-free, or dairy-free or vegan.

Important Information:

All of our products are made in a council approved home kitchen. While we take great care to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee the absence of allergens in our products.

Please consider this carefully when ordering and before serving cakes or cupcakes to your guests.

Allergy Responsibility:

We do not accept responsibility for allergy-related issues or outcomes, as we cannot cater for allergies. Please check ingredients carefully before ordering.

If your guests are aware of the potential risk of contamination, we will always do our best to ensure no contamination occurs during the preparation of your order.

Thank you for understanding the limitations of our kitchen and for helping us maintain transparency around allergens.

How do I best store & serve my cake?

To keep your cake fresh and ensure the best taste and texture, please follow these guidelines:

Refrigeration:

Your cake will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days. If you are not eating the cake on the day of collection, refrigerate it until the day of the event. Cakes are perishable and must be refrigerated. We are not liable for spoilage after handover.

Damage: Once collected, customer assumes full responsibility for cake condition.

Decorations and Collection Timing:

Flowers: Cakes decorated with flowers should be consumed within 2 days of collection, as they tend to become wilted after a few days.

Serving Guidelines:

Remove the cake from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature before serving:

Over 30°C: Display for 1–2 hours before cutting.

Between 25–30°C: Display for 3–4 hours before cutting.

Below 25°C: Display for 4-6 hours before cutting.

Our cakes (and icing) taste best at room temperature.

Important Considerations:

Once the cake leaves our kitchen, storage and display conditions may vary significantly.

Our cakes will be firm like a block of butter when refrigerated but will soften beautifully if left out for a sufficient time.

Thank you for storing and serving your cake with care to ensure the best experience!

What about leftovers?

Your cake leftovers can be frozen for up to two months, if placed in an airtight container.
